Gene: The Hawk Man

Gene is a magnet for hawks - especially the red-tailed hawk.

Two days ago Gene picked up a hawk that flew into a windshield of an oncoming vehicle.

The leg was broken so the hawk was unable to perch, roost or land on anything without rolling around the limb on one leg.  Like a pivoting gymnast, only unintentially.

A woman named Judy, our local rehabilitator of wildlife was ready for the challenge.

Our neighbor drove, again Gene risking his life to save the hawk, driving with this senior citizen.  All in the name of putting this hawk back in the wild some day!
